One of our reporters went on a job and asked opposing counsel if he wanted to order a copy and he said he would only order once he got a copy of our "Statement of two-thirds cost compliance."   While I understand that we have a statute that says the copy rate cannot be more than two-thirds the cost of an original (and we follow that rule), I have no clue what he's talking about when he's requesting a "Statement of Two-Thirds Cost Compliance."     Is there some form or template out there that we are supposed to be using when an attorney makes such a request?   Can someone educate me on what he may be referring to?

I have never heard of a template like that.  Perhaps point him to the specific law , which is MCL 600.1491(2)(b).  We are all required to follow this, and I would think law overrides an office policy.

ETA:  I would like to add that, as a registered firm in Michigan, which I'm sure your firm is, the firm agrees and states that it will follow the laws in place.  Perhaps the wording from that agreement would be helpful.
