Where to look for jobs...

I was a circuit court reporter most of  my career (18 years) and lost my job two years ago due to my judge retiring and budget cuts.  They are replacing all of us in the Oakland County Circuit Court with video whenever possible.

I have been freelancing for the same firm and I am not happy with the jobs they are giving me or the amount of work.  How do you go about finding firms to do work for?

I looked on MAPCRs job listings and there was only one!  That can't be right....I live in the Oakland County area -have done realtime for years.  I am RPR certified.  Any suggestions on how to go about searching for another firm to work for/with?  Where do you find want ads for court reporters?

    Thanks!

Viola,  I apologize.  I don't know how this post got past me.  I am sending this out to the board today.  I am sure we will have some responses.DonnaViola Newman wrote:

Even though there are currently no classified ads seeking reporters that are listed on our site, there are firms in the state that I'm sure would give work to an experienced, realtime writer.

In the back of the JCR  there are three large firms listed.  Bienenstock(888)644-8080  Hanson Renaissance(888) 800-0876 and Chapa & Giblin(800) 308-4244

There is also Macomb Court Reporters, O'Brien & Bails and Ripka and Boroski.

They all have good reputations in our Great State of Michigan.
